Do you have the Verdana typeface installed?
If you have Verdana installed in your browser the typeface (font style) displayed in these 2 lines should look identical. The first row is an image created with Verdana and the second line is your browser text. If the second line is showing a 'fancy' typeface (technical name:serif) then you do NOT have verdana installed - but you can download it for Windows here or try Font Palace.
